Imagine borrowing two calves for 3 weeks to teach students about dairying? High schools can do just that with the Cows Create Careers program. In 2009, the program was delivered to 167 schools and 5845 students across six states of Australia. Over 100 farmers and 100 industry mentors volunteered their time to share their knowledge with students about a wide range of practical and professional career pathways, such as agricultural science, agronomy, dairy farming, nutrition, finance, manufacturing and dairy extension pathways.

| Description: | 'Science in the Suburbs' and 'Science in the Bush' are outreach programs which are modelled on, and undertaken as part of, the successful 'Science in the City' event. They cater for schools in outer Sydney and regional NSW, and provide students with the opportunity to attend talks, shows, workshops and activities in their local area. |
