Description: Every year Industry & Investment NSW in conjunction with the Recreational Fishing Trust run fishing workshops around NSW, teaching responsible fishing practices to over 2500 children and other specific community groups.

 

Cows Create Careers

Description: Imagine borrowing two calves for 3 weeks to teach students about dairying? High schools can do just that with the Cows Create Careers program. In 2009, the program was delivered to 167 schools and 5845 students across six states of Australia. Over 100 farmers and 100 industry mentors volunteered their time to share their knowledge with students about a wide range of practical and professional career pathways, such as agricultural science, agronomy, dairy farming, nutrition, finance, manufacturing and dairy extension pathways.

 

 

 

Science in the City

Description: 'Science in the City' celebrates the many contributions science makes to society. It provides primary and secondary students with a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the science that surrounds them every day and to see the huge variety of career opportunities in science engineering, technology and innovation.

 

Science in the Suburbs and Science in the Bush

Provided by: Australian Museum with the University of Sydney and Charles Sturt University, with funding provided by the Federal Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research. Local science research and education providers present hands-on workshops, shows, talks and expos.
Description: 'Science in the Suburbs' and 'Science in the Bush' are outreach programs which are modelled on, and undertaken as part of, the successful 'Science in the City' event. They cater for schools in outer Sydney and regional NSW, and provide students with the opportunity to attend talks, shows, workshops and activities in their local area.
